Hello, I am Emily

The Cross Elephant started the way most small craft businesses do: I wanted a pattern that did not exist, so I charted it myself. The first design I ever created was an elephant being carried away by some balloons tied to his back. I imagined him to be rather cross about it.

The tagline is “Cross stitch for normal people” and I mean it. There is a whole world of gorgeous cross stitch out there with four hundred thread colours and eighteen shades of beige, and it is magnificent, and it is not what I make. My patterns use a sensible number of colours, print legibly, and are easy to navigate.

Alphabets and borders are my particular obsession. Letters are often the thing that is hardest to find in the right size, which is why I ended up writing a whole book of them. And borders are just fun to make!

If something in a pattern is unclear, or a chart will not print properly, please tell me. I would much rather fix it than have you struggle.
